It feels like the entire world is tuning in to Netflix’s latest release, a limited documentary series about David and Victoria Beckham, and based on the clips that have gone viral on social media, it’s not hard to understand why.
One clip in particular has taken the internet by storm — a clip in which Victoria Beckham, aka Posh Spice, tries to claim that her family was working class growing up, only to be interrupted by her husband.
David Beckham calls out wife Victoria for saying she grew up ‘working class’ in new Netflix docuseries:

“We’re very working class,” Victoria tells the camera. “Be honest,” booms a disembodied voice from the next room, which we then see belongs to David as he peeks his head through the door. “What car did your dad drive you to school in?” he asks. As she tries to answer, claiming that it’s not a simple answer, David says, “No, one answer. What car was it?”

“In the ‘80s, my dad had a Rolls Royce,” Victoria finally concedes, and David thanks her for her honesty. Beckham’s desire to keep his wife honest has undoubtedly earned him some new fans, with one Twitter user celebrating him as the “last remaining investigative journalist.” As the son of a hairdresser and a gas engineer, David was evidently not interested in humoring his wife’s attempts at playing poor.

British tweeters provided necessary context for those unfamiliar with the country’s rigid class system. Because Victoria’s family only recently came into money when she was young, it’s entirely likely that she didn’t feel “rich” compared to her friends who were born into generational wealth and perhaps even titles — this is the nation of Bridgerton and Downton Abbey, after all.
Vic Beckham really exemplifies a specific kind of British new money rich (Essex rich in partic). The type where they went to grammar school and drive a range and their dad owns a construction business and bc of classism they don't quite fit into the traditional middle-upper set

Either way, let the Beckhams serve as the perfect example of why it’s necessary to marry someone who isn’t afraid to call you on your ----.
